35: How to Evolve Your Creative Practice with Sherrod Faulks of DEEP BLACK

Season 3 Episode 5

Sherrod Faulks, a true Renaissance man, journeyed through culinary arts, photography, and software development before finding his passion in ceramics. Co-founding Slice & Torte, a food media company, helped him refine his branding and entrepreneurial skills. Yet, it was a pottery class that changed his path and led him to create DEEP BLACK, a ceramics and design-centered business in 2020. Since then, Sherrod and his work have been featured in powerhouse publications like The New York Times, Real Simple, Southern Living, and more.

In this episode, Sherrod and I discuss the skills, internal work, and experiences that led him to leave his 9-to-5 job to pursue entrepreneurship full-time through DEEP BLACK, as well as what ignited his passion for ceramics and pottery. During the table topic, Sherrod shares his tips and practices for committing to continued evolution and growth as a multifaceted creative.
